There are many car parts out there that are going to make your car better, but one of the simplest ways to improve your ride is to install a new rear sway bar. The rear sway bar effectively connects both sides of the car’s suspension together so that the rear of the vehicle feels more connected to the rest of the car. This sort of upgrade is strictly to improve handling and suspension performance. Here is a quick guide to changing yours.
- Make sure that your rear suspension is under load, or this installation will be much harder than it needs to be. Also, be sure to give yourself enough space under the car to work and that you wear protective goggles or glasses to prevent debris from getting in your eyes.
- Take a look under your car and make sure that you have one installed. If you don’t, you can skip the removal of the old one and go straight to the installation parts. First, find the points where the sway bar connects to the end links on your rear suspension. You should have something to break the screws loose and once that has soaked into the metal, you can attempt to remove the bolts. These should come out relatively easily and then you can work on removing the bar. Simply remove the bar by wiggling it past the exhaust and then you can work on installing the new one.
- If your new sway bar is bigger, it may take a little more work to fit it into place. Once there, you should be able to work the bar into place and start to reattach the bolts. Once these have been put in, you should be able to tighten everything down and have the bar solidly in place.
- Test the new bar. Drive around your neighborhood, or better yet a deserted parking lot, and give the wheel a few hard turns. If everything feels like it is up to snuff, then you have successfully installed a new sway bar, otherwise you can take your car back and retighten all the bolts one more time, making sure not to strip them or break them off.
The rear sway bar will help to induce a more neutral or oversteery feel for your car, depending on how large of a bar you install. It will also help to reduce the body roll and improve the handling as well.
Having the freedom to drive without supervision can be both liberating and frightening. Driving can be highly unpredictable, especially if you aren’t experienced driving in various driving conditions. If you are a new teen driver or simply the parent of a new teen driver, there are definitely some things that you should keep in mind as you head out onto the road. Check out my safe driving suggestions and pointers below.
1. Drive with as few possible passengers as possible. When you get your license, you may be tempted to gather up all of your friends and head out for a drive. While doing this a few times probably won’t hurt, I don’t recommend driving with your friends on a regular basis. They will be highly distracting while you are driving and if you aren’t confident in your abilities yet, this could be cause for an accident.
2. Keep the music volume to a minimum. This can also be difficult, but loud music or pounding base can be another serious distraction from present road conditions. Listening to music is fine, it can even be a great stress reliever if you have anxiety about driving, just keep the noise level to a minimum.
3. Always make sure that you have the proper level of gas, oil and windshield washer fluid. Running low on any of these fluids could be detrimental to your safety. So always keep an eye on your indicators.
4. Drive the speed limit or a little under. Not only will this make your drives far safer, you will also get better gas mileage.
5. Always make sure you take your car in for regular maintenance. You’ll need to get tune-ups, oil changes and occasionally you’ll to have parts replaced, like your led light bulbs. As long as you properly maintain your car, as stated in your car manual, it will last much longer and it will be much safer out on the road.
As an inexperienced driver, you shouldn’t be frightened of driving. Just make sure that you are confident with the rules of the road and you are always aware of your surroundings. Road conditions are constantly changing depending on where and when you are driving. Follow my tips and you’ll be much safer while out on the open road.
Every year, our roads and highways are becoming more crowded with millions of vehicles. As well, many people are choosing to travel long distances by car. We no longer travel close to home, and work often involves road travel at all hours of the day and night. Our increasingly more mobile lifestyle has resulted in road travel problems such as vehicles breaking down on the side of the road and an increased risk of a vehicle accident. Fortunately, there has been a solution created to ease anxieties about vehicle problems when driving along our highways and byways. Purchasing an auto membership offers many benefits that will ease daily living.
During your daily routine, whether it is work or family activities, an auto membership will help ensure that you do not get in a stressful situation with no one to help. One of the biggest concerns about driving is having an accident or having a car break down in an isolated area with no one available to provide assistance. One of the major advantages of an auto membership is emergency roadside service.
The last thing you want is to be hurrying to a meeting or work, or taking your kids to school and have a car break down.
If you have a car problem that requires a flat tire change, a tow service or a battery jump, with one phone call, someone will be dispatched to your location to help you get back on the road. Many times, a person can find them in such situations as lost or stolen keys, keys left in a locked vehicle, running out of essential vehicle fluids, or the gas tank runs empty. In these types of situations a person from roadside assistance will come to your location to replace a lost key, and add such fluids as anti freeze, brake fluids, motor oil…etc.
If you are a person who loves to vacation by car, an auto membership can be very helpful. If you are in an accident while traveling, some auto memberships will provide compensation for such expenses as transportation home, hotel, and food expenses. An auto membership can also provide such assistance as trip routing, discounts on recreational activities such as water parks, and discounts on cruises, hotels, restaurants, local attractions, theme parks, car rentals, and much more. They can even offer road maps and travel guides. As well, there are essential traveling products that one can acquire for their trip such as no-fee traveler’s checks, travel insurance, medical insurance, emergency check-cashing services, and much more.
There are auto club memberships where customer service representatives will help you find a new car. They will provide helpful information such as the history of maintenance and repairs, retail sticker prices, options, safety features, mileage, and more. There even auto clubs that can provide such insurance policies as auto, flood, medical, and life. They can also provide driver training programs.
Depending on the features you are looking for with an auto club membership, there is a plan that can meet each individual’s needs. By purchasing an auto club membership, your daily living routine and vacations will be much more relaxing and you will be reassured knowing that you are protected.
